Power stone 2 dreamcast rom8/5/2023 Normally we see a question like this asked for someone wanting to add a co-op mode of sorts and have to consider doing all the sprites/animation and handling for another thing that was never there, not to mention new screen behaviour. The game itself already has a second character doing all the same moves and everything in the game. If it was an emulator with a ROM hack to stop second player then that might have made life a bit easier. The dreamcast was fairly potent and also one of the first machines to make proper use of compiled languages so I imagine this port is just that and not an emulator wrapper like we see with a lot of other things. Outside chance that it is simply soft disabled. We have had such things in the past - whether you are talking NES pirate mappers, the fun and games with ZSNES builds, later fun with bsnes/higan and their realistic but still not necessarily in other emulator chips, N64 custom texture/high res texture approaches, some sound hacks for things, and so on, and in all cases that have caused problems down the line somewhere.įigure it out though and it is simple enough so you could probably dedicate some unmapped memory to a virtual controller and reference it when necessary. Most are reluctant to do things like this as we don't want emulator specific things or for it to have to be incorporated on whatever the new hotness is for computing devices, into new versions of the emulator. With an emulator it would be easy enough to compile a new version with something that takes a second input. the motion sensor probably being a good start, though the cowboy in me wants to ponder using the microphone as some kind of audio input (see the console hacks called soundhax). Don't know what, if any, options there might be for the various PSTV a like things.Īlternatively there were a few accessories you could probably twist depending upon the level of emulation Or I might consider something with the USB. If I were limited to hardware I might consider something network based like was done for the pokemon typing game on the DS ( ). The trick would be getting the second input in there. Power stone collection with local multiplayer would be real gift to fans of the series as Capcom seems to have no intention of developing or supporting this game any more. Being able to sit down with a buddy and play together.ĭoes anyone know a way of doing this? is there anyone around here who could spare the time to look into what would need to be done? If it could be restored with bit of hacking this would be a real boon for lovers of this underrated fighter. This would be perfect were it not for the absence of local multilayer, removed from the PSP version for obvious reasons. It's a wonderful way to enjoy this cult classic. PPSSPP kicks the crap out of any Dreamcast emulator in term of features, performance and support and seeing the game with crisp up-scaled textures, anti aliasing and 60fps is a treat. In the 'Power Stone Collection' the 4 new characters introduced in Power Stone 2 were added into power stone 1 making it arguably the best version of the game. In 2006 a port was made for the psp that included both games and additional features for each. For those who don't know, Power Stone 1 & 2 are beloved 3D fighter games made for the ill fated Sega Dreamcast.
